Lions are famously known as ‘King of the Jungle.’ These ferocious predators are majestic to watch especially in wildlife. Often lions are associated with courage, strength, and pride. Many countries use lions as a national symbol. Lions are listed as endangered animal. About 50% of lion population has been reduced in Africa.

Most of the Lions are found in most part of south Sudan and sub-Saharan Africa.


Lions eat large portions of animal meat

Life of lion:

Lifespan of lion is about 12 to 14 years

Lions weight:

Lions are the second largest animal in the cat family.  Fully grown male lions weigh in at around 190 KG. Fully grown female lions weigh in at 130 KG.

Lions Speed:

Lions can reach top speeds up to 85 kph

Lion roar:

Lion’s roar can be heard from 8 kilometers away.


Female lions are most active in hunting and they are better hunters than males.

Lions laziness:

Lions are lazy animals and they rest for around 18 to 20 hours a day.

Social Behavior:

Unlike tigers, lions are very social animals. They live in groups of around 25 to 30 lions. Lion groups called as Pride. A pride consists of up to three males.

Lions Don’t Live in the Jungle

Even though lions are known as “king of the the Jungle.” In reality, lions don’t live in the jungle. They live in grassland.
